Thanks to Washington County School District, Labor Day weekend got an early start this year. On Thursday night, Jay and I were able to take off to Mesquite for a fun night of slot machines and video poker (true story- who knew that Bingo's last session was 9pm on a Thursday? Tragic!) The next morning we drove down to Valley of Fire and hiked/drove around one of the most intensely beautiful areas that the Nevada Park System has to offer. We camped that night in Valley of Fire, and when it started to rain (just a little bit) we pulled out Jay's iPhone, and watched the last 30 minutes of Airplane!, one of our favorite movies. Dinner that night was french bread, hummus, beef jerky and apricot beer. Couldn't have asked for a better weekend.
P.S. Jay tried to take home a squirrel for a pet. I got accused of "ruining all of his fun" when I said "no." Sometimes, you just have to lay down the law.

Even while in a gorgeous natural landscape, Jay still has to stop and look at the airplanes as they fly by. I'm dating a 5 year old.
